For us it was a perfect holiday combination

“We have enjoyed our stay in Casa do Limoeiro very much. The house is definitely a gorgeous cottage full of character. The garden with two plum trees, a blue and a yellow – plus a lemon tree was naturally a great pleasure for the eye and the stomach. The house is very clean and comfortable and no noise disturbed us. We really relaxed reading and drinking too much coffee in the little paradise garden. As you can read about Sintra it is indeed a fantastic town, very beautiful landscape and architecture. Parque da Pena really impressed us, and we took a lot of pictures of trees, bushes and flowers. The rear walk up to Pena Palace is also a nice experience, good exercise. It is easy and nice to stay in Sintra, we enjoyed buying all the good food – meet, fruit, vegetables, cakes, bread… all better and cheaper than in Denmark. Normally our son does not like chicken, but different with the Portuguese grilled chicken. So whether we were eating out or at home, it was a pleasure. For us it was a perfect holiday combination: One busy week in Lisbon and one peaceful week in Sintra. Jakob, Per & Kate”

A big OBRIGADO

From either centre you are in easy range of swimming, surf, restaurants, walks, castles, museums or the Capital.

Andrew, Debbie, Jack and Freddie, England, UK – August 2010 – Vila Arcos & Casa do Limoeiro

“A brief note to tell you how much we enjoyed our (nearly) three weeks in the two properties – Vila Arcos and Casa do Limoeiro.

We (Dad, mum and our two adult sons) were keen to have a break “living” in a place for a while. Making this a two centre holiday was particularly good as the rest of the family are more beach bums and I’m a culture vulture. So half of the holiday at Praia das Maçãs and half in Sintra worked well within the context of the national park.

We had the use of a hire car so popping from Macas to Lisbon or from Sintra to Cascais was very easy. From either centre you are in easy range of swimming, surf, restaurants, walks, castles, museums or the Capital. We would thoroughly recommend the Museum of the Fado and the Market of Thieves in Lisbon and – as you promised – the Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra.

As you know I am an artist so oddly I spent most of my time collecting photographs of Washing and Graffiti. Otherwise we are keen self-caterers and used the hobs and barbecues most days though the best food of the holiday was at the Adega do Saraiva restaurant in Nafarros recommended by you. In Cascais we enjoyed a remarkable lunch in a working man’s café called Pérola de Cascais in Rua Afonso Sanches.

Everywhere we found the Portuguese helpful and friendly. I was amazed that, on my return, I had lost a few pounds despite all those pasteis de nata. Also the cost of living was cheaper than we thought it would be compared with London which was a bit of an added bonus.

A big OBRIGADO for all your personal help and attention. Andrew, Debbie, Jack and Freddie”

Perfect February winter getaway

“We really enjoyed our week in Sintra at Casa do Limoeiro, it was such a relaxing time and the perfect February winter getaway from climes further north. Highly recommended as a family vacation with all you could want to see and do within walking distance. We greatly appreciated the advice from our hosts on what to visit and felt so comfortable in our home away from home for the week. The perfect mix of culture, gastronomy and relaxation.”
