Casa da Bia – Review 30

“Two wonderful weeks in one of the cleanest, well equipped properties we have ever stayed at, with a very friendly + helpful host !
Thanks for the tip about Quinta da Regaleira, that’s the first time I’ve seen cherril speechless for years!”

“We just spent 5 days at the lovely cottage as part of our honeymoon.
Ralph was so helpful during our stay and he keeps a beautifully clean and immaculate house and garden. Location is perfect for access to the village and surrounding area, would recommend to anyone. Thank you very much for everything.”

Casa da Bia – Review 24

“We spent almost two weeks in Casa da Bia and it was absolutley wonderful! The house was perfect for a family with 2 young children. The baby cots & chairs were perfect, the garden a nice big playground without us having to worry about the children because of the closed gate. It was nice for us to have everything within walking distance from the house (beach, shop, restaurants) so we didn’t have to put the stroller and kids in the car just to grab a cup of coffee. We did however rent a car to see a bit of the beautiful area and we were glad we did because the weather wasn’t always too nice unfortunately. But the kids loved every minute of the holiday and so did we ! Thank you Ralph for this lovely holiday !”

“Had a lovely relaxing week at Casa da Bia. The cottage was perfect, If only a little cold at night (our only complaint). Kitchen was particularly well equipped & outdoor area very safe for the girls to play. Praia das Macas was quiet but that’s not a complaint. Girls had the playground to themselves most mornings, plenty of room on the beach and none of the cafes were too busy – A bonus with a young family. Locals are very friendly. Ralph had lots of suggestions of things to do & places to visit and we’ll have to come back to do them another time because we kept things very simple. This trip – Playground, beach, ice cream & more ice cream !
Only disappointing note was that the tram to Sintra wasn’t in operation while we were here but I guess that’s another reason to make sure we come back”

Casa da Bia – Review 21

“We had a fantastic week’s holiday in Casa da Bia in April. The weather was beautiful, the cottage perfect.
Waking up every morning to have late breakfast outside in the sun in our own front garden was a real treat – especially for us city folk! Ralph was a mine of useful info and dead right when he suggested Quinta da Regaleira would be worth a whole day’s visit.
Praia das Macas was charming and everyone in the village friendly to tourists. It’s easy to get a bus to Sintra and then a train ride into Lisbon, and we managed to get taxis back from Sintra on a couple of late nights as Ralph suggested.
We’ll definitely be coming back! “

Casa da Bia – Review 19.2

“Saturday – Welcomed at the Airport by helpful Luis, and settled in with enthusiastic advice from Ralph. Delightfully comfortable!
Sunday – Beach day to unwind from the travel. We (Jon & Ivor) enjoyed getting soused by breakers in the pool at Azenhas do Mar! Recommended!
Monday – Magical day at Sintra! a marvel of the ‘romantic’ movement. Also the old palace is worth visiting, with moorish influences obvious. We enjoyed eating at Cafe de Paris on the main square. Ivor loved exploring the tunnels at Quinta da Regaleira. we couldn’t do everything in one day…
Tuesday – After our excursions in Sintra, a rest day which we spent by the pool at Hotel Aribas at Praia Grande. It’s both cheaper and quicker than the Lido complex here in Praia das Macas, and the hotel restaurant served a great octopus salad.
Wednesday – We travelled to Lisbon by bus & train – no problems and explored the old town around the castle, before enjoying a meal in the baixa area.
Thursday – Swimming in the pool at Praia das Macas and then leaping in the breakers at Praia Grande. We think the beach at Praia Grande is better than Praia das Macas – larger and less busy.
Friday – Another day in Sintra, this time to visit the Palace do Pena at the top of the hill and surrounding gardens. Well worth the visit. The interior is bizarre a real hotchpotch. Joe liked the fresco of naked nymphs frolicking with fauns, painted by King Carlos 1! We rode the first tram to Sintra even so there was only just room to get on but it was fun.

5*! – Ivor 🙂 10/10
I had a really good stay! 101% amazing! Make sure that you try all the local biscuits and the octopus. Go to the Aribus hotel for swimming and Praia Grande beach. Make sure you go in the waves, Guaranteed fun!”
