A big OBRIGADO

From either centre you are in easy range of swimming, surf, restaurants, walks, castles, museums or the Capital.

Andrew, Debbie, Jack and Freddie, England, UK – August 2010 – Vila Arcos & Casa do Limoeiro

“A brief note to tell you how much we enjoyed our (nearly) three weeks in the two properties – Vila Arcos and Casa do Limoeiro.

We (Dad, mum and our two adult sons) were keen to have a break “living” in a place for a while. Making this a two centre holiday was particularly good as the rest of the family are more beach bums and I’m a culture vulture. So half of the holiday at Praia das Maçãs and half in Sintra worked well within the context of the national park.

We had the use of a hire car so popping from Macas to Lisbon or from Sintra to Cascais was very easy. From either centre you are in easy range of swimming, surf, restaurants, walks, castles, museums or the Capital. We would thoroughly recommend the Museum of the Fado and the Market of Thieves in Lisbon and – as you promised – the Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra.

As you know I am an artist so oddly I spent most of my time collecting photographs of Washing and Graffiti. Otherwise we are keen self-caterers and used the hobs and barbecues most days though the best food of the holiday was at the Adega do Saraiva restaurant in Nafarros recommended by you. In Cascais we enjoyed a remarkable lunch in a working man’s café called Pérola de Cascais in Rua Afonso Sanches.

Everywhere we found the Portuguese helpful and friendly. I was amazed that, on my return, I had lost a few pounds despite all those pasteis de nata. Also the cost of living was cheaper than we thought it would be compared with London which was a bit of an added bonus.

A big OBRIGADO for all your personal help and attention. Andrew, Debbie, Jack and Freddie”

Just Brilliant!

“Hi there Ana and Ralph. Big thanks for a brilliant week at your cottage in Praia das Maçãs. The accomodation was first class and the children loved the beach and the swimming pool as well as the trip on the old tram to Sintra. The shops and child friendly restaurants of Praia das Macas made the holiday very relaxed and your transfer service took all the stress out of getting to and from the airport. Just Brilliant!”

Casal de Santa Maria – Review 13

“One “busy” week cruising around Lisbon, Sintra & coast Neighbourhood. We have seen, done and of course eaten a lot! The Percebe was an interesting new seafood. This house is just perfect – we were 7 people, aged 10 – 91 and we all enjoyed the atmosphere.”

Perfect February winter getaway

“We really enjoyed our week in Sintra at Casa do Limoeiro, it was such a relaxing time and the perfect February winter getaway from climes further north. Highly recommended as a family vacation with all you could want to see and do within walking distance. We greatly appreciated the advice from our hosts on what to visit and felt so comfortable in our home away from home for the week. The perfect mix of culture, gastronomy and relaxation.”

Casal de Santa Maria – Review 15

“The Halfpenny Family had a great week here, very confortable and well thought out accommodation. Recommend day trips to Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon (be wary if you get the 28 tram – we had 2 near miss pick-pocket incidents!) and the Oceanarium if it’s raining and you have kids. Good early morning coffees at the Oceano Café in the village and do use Ralph’s restaurant recommendations, especially Nortada (turn right at the Telepizza). Amazing sea views, great fish and friendly! Good service. Thanks Ralph for your tips!”

Casal de Santa Maria – Review 16

“Your hospitality has been unrivalled, tremendous, no question or query has been too much trouble and the detailed information jubilate. Nautilus food was scrummy, reduced one of our friends to tears of joy.

“The 9 of us had an absolute ball staying here for the week! The villa is amazing and the area was beautiful. Your advice and recommendations were very helpful to us, so thank you for that. Nautilus was a fabulous restaurant, we ate there three times! I’m sure we’ll be coming back here again sometime, even if the neighbours are sick of our music, late night swims and the random quotes we kept repeating – ‘You will never get this!’, ‘Everyday I’m shuffling’. Thanks again!”

“Thanks for a wonderful week in Casa da Olga. We had a great time and thanks to your helpful recommendations we spent seven interesting, relaxing & adventurous days here. Our favorite places to go for:
Food – Fried shrimps at Nautilus, Cheap and Cheerful 🙂 – Sunset dinner at Nortada (try the Grilled Octopus) – Freshly baked bread with Chouriço at the São Pedro Market (every 2nd & 4th Sunday of the Month)
Adventure – Scenic walk along the coastline to Cabo da Roca – Tunnel & grotto tour at Quinta da Regaleira (and thanks to your torch we made it back safely) – Rocky path to a hidden bay just after Azenhas do Mar. We will defiantly recommend your place!”
